  26. The following files are included in the evaluation
  27. version of Handyman Wallpaper Hanger 1.1:

  42. A file which ends with an underscore (_) denotes a
  43. compressed file which will be uncompressed by the setup
  44. program.

  46. If any files are missing, please notify the sysop of the
  47. BBS from which you obtained the zipped file, or notify
  48. Jim Shepherd on CompuServe (71664,2255), or Shepherd
  49. Software at the address given at the end of this

  53. IMPORTANT NOTES
  54.  
  55. 1. Feel free to upload Handyman Wallpaper Hanger 1.1 to your
  56.    favorite BBS's (in fact, I hope you will). However, please
  57.    be sure to include all the files listed above so that people
  58.    who download Handyman can install it successfully and can
  59.    use it to its fullest capabilities.
  60.  
  61. 2. If you do upload Handyman, PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR
  62.    "HANDY11.INI" FILE. This file is unique to your preferences
  63.    and may cause unsatisfactory results for someone else.
  64.    The compressed file, HANDY11.IN_, contains the proper
  65.    defaults for first time users and should be included
  66.    in the zipped file you upload.
  67.  
  68. 3. Handyman Wallpaper Hanger 1.1, and its setup program, require
  69.    the file VBRUN300.DLL to be in your path or in your Windows
  70.    "System" directory in order to run.
  71.  
  72.    Neither Handyman nor its setup program will work with
  73.    VBRUN200.DLL or VBRUN100.DLL. You can obtain VBRUN300.DLL
  74.    from the Windows Shareware Forum on CompuServe, most BBS's,
  75.    or the shareware vendor from which you obtained Handyman.

  77. 4. Handyman requires versions of MicroSoft's CMDIALOG.VBX and
  78.    THREED.VBX (both included with Handyman) with program dates of
  79.    04/28/93 or later. Handyman will not work properly with earlier
  80.    versions of those files.
  81.  
  82.    If the zipped file you downloaded does not contain CMDIALOG.VBX
  83.    and THREED.VBX with program dates of 04/28/93 or later, please
  84.    notify the sysop of the BBS where you obtained Handyman, and
  85.    also notify Shepherd Software at the address given at the end
  86.    of this document.

  88. 5. THE HANDYMAN INSTALLATION PROGRAM DOES NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES
  89.    TO WIN.INI OR SYSTEM.INI, OR ANY OTHER FILES ON YOUR COMPUTER
  90.    AND WILL NOT OVERWRITE ANY FILE WHICH HAS A NEWER DATE THAN THE
  91.    ONE IT IS INSTALLING.

  93.    When you use Handyman, all of the preferences you select in
  94.    Handyman are saved in the "handy11.ini" file, which is stored
  95.    in your Handyman directory.
  96.  
  97. 6. If you want to get started right away, there's an item on
  98.    Handyman's Help menu called "Getting Started" which will
  99.    provide you with the minimum information necessary to begin
  100.    using Handyman.
  101.  
  102. 7. Handyman includes a feature called Magic Target Help
  103.    which allows you to easily call up information and help
  104.    on objects and menu items by clicking on them when Magic
  105.    Target Help is turned on. A good way to familiarize yourself
  106.    with Handyman is to turn on Magic Target Help and take a
  107.    tour of Handyman's features.

  110. INSTALLATION
  111.  
  112. During installation, Handyman's setup program will suggest a
  113. directory for Handyman's files. You can accept the suggested
  114. directory or type in a different one. If the directory does not
  115. exist, the setup program will create it.
  116.  
  117. After installing Handyman, the setup program will automatically
  118. create a program group called "Shepherd Software" and will install
  119. Handyman's icon in it. If this offends you, simply move the
  120. Handyman program icon to another group by dragging it to another
  121. program group's open window and dropping it there. You can then
  122. delete the Shepherd Software program group by single-clicking on it
  123. to highlight it and then choosing Delete from Program Manager's
  124. File menu.

  126. HANDYMAN'S SETUP PROGRAM DOES NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO YOUR WIN.INI
  127. OR SYSTEM.INI FILES. IT ALSO WILL NOT OVERWRITE ANY FILE WHICH HAS
  128. A NEWER DATE THAN THE FILE IT IS INSTALLING.

  130. To install Handyman from diskette, do the following:
  131.  
  132. NOTE: VBRUN300.DLL must be installed in your path or in your
  133.       Windows "System" directory in order to use the setup program
  134.       (and to run Handyman). 
  135.  
  136. 1. Place the Handyman diskette in your A: or B: drive.
  137.  
  138. 2. From Program Manager, choose Run... from the File menu.
  139.  
  140. 3. In the box which appears, type "A:\setup" or B:\setup"
  141.    (without the quotes).
  142.  
  143. 4. Click OK or press ENTER.
  144.  
  145.  
  146. To install Handyman from a zipped file, do the following:
  147.  
  148. NOTE: VBRUN300.DLL must be installed in your path or in your
  149.       Windows "System" directory in order to use the setup program
  150.       (and to run Handyman). 
  151.  
  152. 1. Unzip HANDY11.ZIP.
  153.  
  154. 2. From Program Manager, choose Run... from the File menu.
  155.  
  156. 3. In the box which appears, type the complete path to Handyman's
  157.    setup program. For example, if you unzipped HANDY11.ZIP in your
  158.    "Download" directory on your C: drive, you would type
  159.    "C:\DOWNLOAD\SETUP.EXE" (without the quotes).
  160.  
  161. 4. Click OK or press ENTER.
  162.  
  163. 5. Once Handyman has been successfully installed, you can delete all
  164.    the files which were included in HANDY11.ZIP so long as you didn't
  165.    install Handyman into the same directory that contains those files.
  166.    In that case, delete ONLY the following files:
  167.  
  168.     cmdialog.vb_
  169.     file_id.diz
  170.     handy11.ex_
  171.     handy11.hl_
  172.     handy11.in_
  173.     setup.exe
  174.     setup.lst
  175.     setup1.ex_
  176.     setupkit.dl_
  177.     threed.vb_
  178.     ver.dl_
  179.  
  180.    Be sure to leave handy11.exe, handy11.ini, handy11.hlp, and
  181.    readme.txt in your Handyman directory.

  184. UN-INSTALL
  185.  
  186. I hope you will like using Handyman, but if you decide to
  187. remove it from your computer, do the following:
  188.  
  189. 1. Delete all the files from your Handyman directory.
  190.  
  191. 2. Remove (delete) your Handyman directory.
  192.  
  193. 3. You may want to delete the following files which were installed
  194.    in your Windows "System" directory by Handyman's setup program:
  195.  
  196.     cmdialog.vbx
  197.     threed.vbx
  198.  
  199.  **HOWEVER, DO NOT DELETE THESE .VBX FILES if you have MicroSoft
  200.    Visual Basic (any version), Standard or Professional editions
  201.    since you need these files for yourself. Also, do not delete
  202.    these files if they are needed by another Visual Basic
  203.    application. You also should not delete VBRUN300.DLL since you
  204.    will need that file in order to run other Visual Basic
  205.    applications. I know this is all probably self-evident but
  206.    it's easy to make mistakes in the heat of the moment.
  207.  
  208. 4. Remove the Handyman program icon by single-clicking on it to
  209.    highlight it and then choosing Delete from Program Manager's
  210.    File menu.
  211.  
  212. 5. If your Shepherd Software program group is now empty, you can
  213.    remove (delete) it by single-clicking on it to highlight it and
  214.    then choosing Delete from Program Manager's File menu.
